From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could help the team access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers groups.
Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
